This afternoon, a rare partial solar eclipse of the sun by the moon will be visible from Spirit River. This celestial event begins at about 2:30 p.m. and ends about 5:15 p.m. (in Grande Prairie).
If clear skies prevail, this will be an excellent opportunity to witness the moon’s shadow across the sun. However, you must be prepared to not burn out your eyes. Everyone knows you can do serious damage to yourself by looking directly at the sun, so watching an eclipse is particularly harmful.
