The Cabin of the Bard of the Peace

If you are in the Fairview area, head out to the museum at Cummings Lake.  Among other buildings in the outdoor town-style museum, you’ll find the cabin once occupied by John Sweeny, The Bard of the Peace or The Poet of Vanrena.  The cabin, the second Sweeny called home, was moved to the museum site in 2008.  You can read some of John Sweeny’s poetry here.

Don’t forget that Spirit River’s Museum is a great place to spend a day as well.  It too is a town complete with a school, church, hall, flour mill and historic residences, including two pioneer cabins.  Another rainy day would be the perfect time to check it out.

Please browse the Summer Fun category for other places to go this season.
