Local Veteran Honoured

70 years after the invasion of Normandy, a local veteran has received France’s highest honour because he was there, in the midst of the D-Day landings, driving a tank.  George Kusyk, now aged 91, was one of 48 veterans to receive the Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour from the French ambassador to Canada, Philippe Zeller.

You’ll find his story, including some romance at a dance right here in Spirit River, by clicking here.
