The Shell True North Forest

It was nearly two years ago that Shell Canada announced the Shell True North Forest, an area of 1,820 acres of land to be set aside as a wildlife conservation area. Read more here on Shell’s website.  Visitors on foot are welcome to explore.

The site straddles the highway west of Spirit River where it crosses the Ksituan River, and it encompasses some forest in the river valley and some fields as well as a homestead with historic buildings.  Follow this link to see a map of the area, and also to read about certain restrictions if you are planning to use the site.

Maybe we’ll see enough snow in February to try snowshoeing in the Shell True North Forest!  Then again, it must be lovely without the snow, too 😉

Remember, if you know about something going on in the Spirit River area that people would like to hear about, you can post it right here!  Just email or leave a comment on any post.  Your input is very welcome 🙂
