Spirit River Curler Making the News

Are you keeping track of what’s happening in the world of curling this season?  There are plenty of fans of the social sport in the Spirit River area – and at least one former resident who is beginning to make a mark on the national curling scene.

Two-time U20 Alberta champion Jeff Erickson is now curling with the St. Albert Curling Club’s Jamie King Foursome.  Last month at the Boston Pizza Cup provincial men’s championship, the team took on some big names: Martin and Koe.  It was a close game and you can read all about it here at the St. Alberta Gazette.

Note this line: “At provincials King and his men finished 3-3 in their quest to become the first St. Albert team to represent Alberta at the Brier since Hec Gervais in 1974 and Tom Reed in 1975.”

Congratulations to King and his men, especially Spirit River born Jeff Erickson!
