Musical Crop Art

Something cropped up on a farm near the Grande Prairie airport last week.  A local farmer sat a spell on her combine and spelled out “ON THE COMBINE”, freehand, in a wheat field.

“On the Combine” is a popular song by High Valley, a trio of brothers from La Crete (if you didn’t already know!)

They also have a single called “Have I Told You I Love You Lately“.

Bob Regan, of Pouce Coupe, and Lucille Starr (The Canadian Sweethearts) sang the well-loved song “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” back in the 60s.

Bob’s brother Keray wrote another of the Regan’s best loved songs, “Poor, Poor Farmer“* while on the combine.

Is it too far fetched to say that the G.P. crop art is a combined tribute to all five Peace Country artists?

Cool! I wish I had a reason to fly out of GP so I could see that.
