Thanks for coming to celebrate Town Spirit’s second anniversary! Two years ago today the idea of a blog all about the good things happening in Spirit River, Alberta became a reality with the help of WordPress. Now, Town Spirit consists of over 400 posts: a collection of local information, pictures, history, stories and current activities. Hopefully you have found something to your liking on your visit today. If not, try the archives!
Town Spirit was planned to be a blog about Spirit River and area, written by the people that know it best. It would be posts for visitors, past residents and relatives, but mostly just to help us locals celebrate our unique place in geography, history and (who knows!) maybe even time. Many thanks to those who, over the past couple of years, have contributed posts, tips and comments. You have helped make Town Spirit what it was meant to be 🙂
Posting about Spirit River is often quite surprising. There are more heroic stories, famous people, and eclectic goings on than can be covered in two years. That means there is plenty of material left for another two. But most of these interesting happenings are not written and are therefore not available. If you have something to share, please consider sending your words to Town Spirit so we can all enjoy it. That’s what Town Spirit is here for – so you know your post is most welcome.
Now for some stats and facts about Town Spirit. As of this second anniversary, the blog has received over 15,000 views. The most popular post ever is The Central Peace Signal, with a link to subscribe online. Dunvegan Bridge is the most popular subject, and the windmill project and the new Grande Prairie hospital attracted a lot of interest this year. Only two people have ever looked at this post or this post. Any idea why?
Here’s to another year of recording all good things about Spirit River and area! Cheers, everyone 🙂
