With no snow cover so far this year, the snowy owls are easy to spot. Here are two, at least (possibly three) seen near Spirit River as they silently survey the fields for prey.
Beautiful birds, but those poor owls, standing out like that – white on a brown background. Does this mean they’ve become sitting ducks?
I was hoping someone could tell me that. Maybe as long as the coyotes and foxes are also feeding well on mice the owls are safe enough. Our dog gave chase to a rabbit that was also very white (and bigger than the dog).
