The historic York Boat, dubbed the “Ghost of Mac” (as in Alexander MacKenzie) was successfully launched at Fort Dunvegan on Wednesday.
There was quite a crowd gathered for the send off, which included beef on a bun, live music, and a special blessing. People could have a good look at the York Boat and the crew (in reproduction period clothing) were happy to answer questions.
The York Boat is making many stops along the route to Fort Vermilion. They have a rough schedule on line as well as updates on Facebook and Twitter. Just look up Geotourism Canada and you can find videos, pictures and messages from the crew.
